In my kitchen this February are Royal Doulton coffee cups (Gordon Ramsey range), Mum brought them out as she is visiting. You see, Mum didn’t like the handle on the glass Nespresso cappuccino cups I have and felt these had a better handle to grip, which is true… they are cute coffee mugs. A cappuccino ready to go with the remain rustic homemade chocolate chip cookie on the side. We have a cookie monster in the kitchen who shall remain nameless.
It was my birthday last month, got spoilt with gorgeous presents from wonderful friends and family that I am very grateful to have in my life. As you can imagine I now have some lovely new food related gifts to use. Elegant and stylish, love my new Japanese tea-pot and cups from Teavana, and some new teas to enjoy too. Brewing in my kitchen this month will be Jade Dragon Green, Weight To Go Pu-erh Flavoured Black Tea and Sliver Yin Shen Pea White Tea.
Rather than use my new ceramic board for chopping, it would be perfect for serving a few nice cheeses on, with some olives and chutney served in the small dishes.
My new glass butter dish is really cute and stylish and would complement any table or tray setting, keeping the butter nice and tidy. Spreading knives are always useful too and I used this colorful knife to spread some butter over freshly baked quinoa bread that I picked up for Organic Foods and Cafe.
In my kitchen are some delicious gifts of oils and spices from Crescend0, Balsamic Vinegar, Pistachio Oil, Forest Raspberry Vinegar, Pumpkin Oil and Porcini and Tartufi Spice Blend. I know my salads and risotto will love these gourmet kitchen treats.
Mum also brought out some delicious Italian chocolates in a pretty tin (she also knew I would keep the tin) and some Carrot Cake Marmalade for our toast. That was the last chocolate from the tin… did I say I love chocolates! I’ve had some beautiful flowers sitting pretty on my kitchen island with Singapore Flowers (Bahrain) blossom buddy monthly subscription service. Each week a different floral display arrives with a little note and some fun facts about your blossom buddy. Nice to treat yourself (or someone else) and your kitchen every now and then… defitenely will avail of this service again.
Once again joining up with the lovely host Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial and other bloggers from around the globe for the monthly “In My Kitchen” posts, showcasing all our kitchen treasures. I was also hoping to have Celia’s sourdough starter in my kitchen as Celia kindly posted me some (twice), but it seems that it’s not going to arrive 😦 Maybe I will have a go at making a sourdough starter in the name of Priscilla… Celia’s sour dough starter. Will give it another week.
Up-date 6th of February: Celia’s sourdough starter has arrived and she is now in Bahrain. 🙂 Excited to start the process of cloning Priscilla and in due course you should hopefully see the results. Thank you so much Celia xx

Thank you Celia, please don’t trouble yourself as you have very kindly sent the sourdough starters out twice. I will wait another week or so and if all else fails I will try my hand at cloning Priscilla 🙂

Everything looks exciting! Love the coffee mug. One of the restaurants i visited yesterday used the same brand for all their crockery needs .

That teapot is stunning! Butter dish and bottles too are gorgeous. Ive only recently discovered pumpkin seed oil and its divine (mine isn’t in quite such beautiful bottle) The little flowers in that specimen jar lovely too, Thanks.

Fergie the little flowers with the tulips are called Prunus Cerasus Branches or Sour cherry (had to look at the note that came with the flowers), they were very dainty when they bloomed but really beautiful 🙂

Moya, what does the carrot cake marmalade taste like? It sounds like it would be utterly delicious. Your flavoured oils sound amazing. So many different flavours to work your way through.

Kirsty, the carrot cake marmalade is quite nice, not overly sweet and lightly spiced, you can taste a hint of cinnamon. My only grip would be the bitter aftertaste of the oranges. Mum likes that bitter aftertaste, I am not so keen, so it’s really a matter of personal taste. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Moya, I’m tickled that your sourdough starter finally arrived! (What a wonder, considering how it traveled through the postal system!) I’ve seen some exquisite loaves on this IMK go-round thanks to Celia’s generosity… and I might just have to put in a request for my own bread-making reverie. 🙂 I also loved your teapot, assorted oils & vinegar(s), and lovely, simple butter dish — and bouquet of tulips!!! 🙂 Believe it or not, “cup handle size” is one of the main considerations for my next set of dishes.
