In My Kitchen December 2017

It’s been quiet around this blog and nothing posted for weeks. And, I missed November’s IMK post. Would like to apologize for the lack of response to the comments on the pervious post as I do appreciate your time and visits to my blog. My health took a bit of a nosedive which meant tests, procedures and the anxiety waiting on results. Thankfully feeling a lot better and hopefully will start posting more again soon. In the meantime, a quick IMK post before the deadline finishes at midnight. With Christmas around the corner and only starting the preparations, need to get my skates on. Hope you are further on than me… I haven’t even made the Christmas pudding yet!

In my kitchen…

A Microplane grater… my absolute favorite, love the wooden (walnut) handle on the master series range. We often use them for gating parmesan or other hard cheeses.

This is the first ever Christmas mug I’ve bought myself… I really fancied this one when I saw it. I’m thinking of filling it with a Mexican hot chocolate drink or a warming Turkish salep seeing as our weather has a definite chill in the air.

Bean sprouts… sprouted in a jar with a mesh lid and a stand to rest the jar on so excess water drains off. Love the crunch and fresh taste of sprouts.

In my kitchen…

Enamel spoons with colorful designs… you can never have enough spoons. Well, that was my excuse when buying them.

In my kitchen…

Sometimes I make a potato and onion frittata for breakfast, especially when the athletic side of the family come in from a long cycle. I managed to hold them off for a few seconds to take this quick photo before the dish was devoured.

In my kitchen…

Dried some moringa leaves in the dehydrator, then ground them to a powder in a spice grinder. We sprinkle the powder over salads, vegetable juices and soups, you can also use the dried leaves to make tea. We have a moringa tree growing in the garden and with many nutritional benefits, why not make use of the leaves. The taste is quite vegetal, bit like spinach but not unpleasant.

In my kitchen…

A stylish wooden stand with a stainless steel grater for a small rock of salt. I do love having different types of salt and liked the concept of this one.

That’s it for this years In My Kitchen posts and look forward to joining you once again next year. Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas 🙂

  1. Happy Christmas to you as well~ And I agree about the microplaner. Initially, I thought it was going to be one of those impulse purchases I may regret. But I too use it for hard cheeses, and the occasional dusting of nutmeg or cinnamon. I feel quite the “chef” using it!

  3. Your frittata is beautiful! Funny thing: we ate frittata for breakfast yesterday, and I don’t recall ever having it for breakfast before. Ours was a leftover.

    Have a fun Christmas.
