 In my kitchen…

Papaya from a local farmers market. Can’t sway other family members to eat this fruit as they don’t like the taste, texture and smell. On well, guess more for me and my favorite way to enjoy chunks of papaya is with a generous squeeze of fresh lime juice.

Delighted to have this gorgeous Miyabi fruit and vegetable knife in my kitchen. Although new knives are sharp, this Japanese knife is extremely sharp as well as aesthetically pleasing to look at.

In my kitchen…

Eggs, a staple in our fridge… sometimes we scramble them for breakfast and enjoy them with local goats cheese, za’atar and arabic flatbread from the bakery a short distance from our home. Simple, but so very tasty.

In my kitchen…

Friends know I love kitchen gadgets… with one quick swipe you have seven to eight cherry tomatoes cut in half. Apparently you can also use this gadget (cherry tomato cutter) to cut pitted olives and grapes. Guess which  kitchen gadget I’ll be using when I need lots of cherry tomato halves for my dehydrator?

In my kitchen…

Is this cute vintage butter curler. Love these little finds when I visit markets on my travels. Butter curls look decorative as a garnish or when served with food.

I have a soft spot for bees and thought this small “bee” plate perfect for serving the butter curls on.

In my kitchen…

Tea and cinnamon sticks (photo below) from our recent visit to Sri Lanka. Both my daughter and husband took part in the Ironman 70.3 race, in Colombo. All went well despite the very hot weather on the run,  plenty of thirst quenching drinks were enjoyed afterwards. Orange and cinnamon is a wonderful flavor combination and when paired with tea, makes a particularly refreshing iced tea.

The small silver tea caddy is from Sri Lanka when we were there on another visit a few years back.

The decorative spoon is used for measuring out tea leaves.

And, adding a splash of color is this lovely ceramic juicer, I do have a plastic one but this is so much prettier.

In my kitchen…

Some sweet stuff, coconut cacao spread and a jar of pani pol. Pani pol is a traditional Sri Lanka sweet filling usually eaten with pancakes or string hoppers. The jar of sweet filling is made from shredded coconut, coconut sugars and spices such as cinnamon cloves and cardamoms. Hope this jar will not be tooth achingly sweet.

    i’m afraid pawpaw smells like vomit to me sorry:) love the bee plate and the butter curler. so darling. i love gadgets too and my kitchen drawers are full of them even tho i don’t use them often. my garlic wheel has never been used yet. your kitchen knife scares me. i just know i would cut a finger or 2 off. thanks heaps for joining in IMK this month. great to see you. cheers sherry x

      Sherry I don’t always use my gadgets too and with a drawer full I forget about them sometimes. I think the poor papaya get a bad rap… no point in trying to change your mind then 🙂

    What lovely treasures to highlight this month, in gorgeous photos as usual. The butter curler and small metal skillet are especially appealing. Mmmmm, I’m with you on papayas and lime as a fruit treat.
