Christmas Menu Tasting at Cafe Amsterdam

With Christmas around the corner and with our wonderful weather, spent a perfect evening under the sky tasting a truly delicious Christmas menu at Cafe Amsterdam, Bahrain. I love Christmas food and was very much looking forward to the evening ahead.

The Menu:

Scallop Ceviche place on a bed of Tomato Tartar with a Chilli Dressing, loved the little beads of Olive Oil Caviar surround the dish. This was a firm favorite among the diners.

Beautiful presented Pork Belly Bruschetta served on a gorgeous wooden board, very tasty indeed, for those that enjoy pork.

Presented on a slate platter, a newspaper cone filled with Deep Fried Calamari encased in a Crisp Heineken Batter. They can also prepare batter without the alcohol.

Fresh Local Prawns on a bed of Avocado Tartar with a Spicy Chutney

White Endive topped with a Gorgonzola Dressing, Walnuts, slivers of Dates and a drizzle of Balsamic. Just realized I left this photograph out… that’s what happens when you have so much food to taste. Lovely combinations of flavors and suitable for vegetarians.

Chicken Liver and Foie Gras Parfait served with Date Compote that was not overly sweet.

Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce.

When Juan said he had prepared us a whole Roasted Turkey I thought he was joking! Chef Mohammed wheeled out a perfectly cooked moist turkey and with trimmings. Chestnut and Herb Stuffing, Roast Baby Potatoes, Carrots, Asparagus and of course Cranberry Sauce.

And the grand finale… a delicious and beautifully presented Christmas Pudding that was rich tasting yet lighter than expected, served with Brandy Cream, Butterscotch Sauce and Fresh Red Currants. 🙂 🙂

I was in need of a workout after all that sumptuous food tasting and on leaving Cafe Amsterdam spotted a bicycle hanging on the wall… I was almost tempted to cycle home. Love the presentation, the flavors of the food and the attention to detail, and the cosy ambiance of the garden area. Thank you Cafe Amsterdam for the invite and for spoiling us, I had a wonderful evening full of delicious Christmasy food and wine in relaxed surroundings with good company, and fellow blogger Gerogina.
