Summer Fruit Salad with Orange Blossom and Fresh Mint served with Rose Perfumed Yoghurt

Summer Fruit SaladFruit salads are an easy dessert to make and a super easy way of adding a variety of fruit to your diet. You are more inclined to reach out for fruit already prepared, either in a fruit salad or simply sliced and presented nicely. Also, as this is the month of Ramadan, a quick dessert might be favored over a more labour intensive one. This simple fruit salad consists of oranges, sungold kiwifruit and strawberries, perfumed with the middle eastern flavor of orange blossom and garnished with fresh mint. Leaving the fruit salad in the fridge for about half an hour to an hour before serving, brings all the wonderful fruity flavors together and mellows the flavor of the orange blossom. When using perfumed waters such as rose or orange blossom, a little goes a long way. You can use more, or less depending on your taste. Affogato – Vanilla Ice Cream with Espresso

Espresso with Ice CreamSome weeks back I was given an Nespresso machine as a birthday gift 🙂  and when I opened the box I was hoping George Clooney might have made  a surprise appearance… I think he may have been a bit busy! But like George Clooney in the advertisement for Nespressoice cream and coffee are perfect partners in the culinary world. I am soooo in “coffee love” with my Nespresso machine, which are effortless to use. At the Nespresso store in Bahrain’s City Center Mall, you can try samples of the coffee before buying, very helpful when choosing your favorites.

Espresso with Ice CreamAffogato is a classic Italian dessert which consists of a scoop of vanilla ice cream drowned in a shot of hot espresso. The contrast in the hot and cold, sweet and bitter makes this dessert very pleasurable to eat. Affogato makes a wonderful after dinner dessert, combining dessert and coffee into one. Of course you don’t have to limit yourself to having this simple treat at dinner parties… I don’t. If you want a coffee flavored ice cream… have an Affogato… it’s that simple.

Affogato

  • 4 generous scoops of a good quality vanilla ice cream
