In My Kitchen January 2020

Hopefully the new year has started well as the festivities end and a new year begins. It’s been pretty hectic in my kitchen these past weeks and can imagine the same in your kitchen too. Looking forward to another year of monthly In My Kitchen posts with host Sherry and of course other participants who join in too. Wishing you all the very best for the new year 2020.

In My Kitchen…

Impressed with these nifty little egg separators, clinging to the side of bowls as the egg white slips to the bottom. We had quite a few cloudy days  in Bahrain over the past month so these handy kitchen gadgets certainly brightened my cooking days.

Over the holiday, coffee in my favorite Christmas themed mug and of course some festive treats to enjoy made by a talented friend.

Always a joy baking sourdough bread and now acquired a gorgeous bread lame. Although I can’t see myself scoring artful designs like some bakers (and bloggers) do… but maybe I will give it a try sometime. The handle of this bread scorer is oak wood, hand-made from a recycled Scottish whiskey barrel, a find on amazon.

Homemade pickled beetroot, thankfully everyone loves this vegetable in our household. We also enjoy this raw beetroot recipe marinated in cocoa balsamic vinegar.

And the latest cookbooks to add to my collection… Donna Hays “Week-light” cookbook and a gift from Mum, Rick Steins “Secret France”. Some tasty new recipes to try.

And to end this post… a lovely collection of salad oils and balsamic vinegar from a dear friend, always lovely receiving foodie gifts.

Should you ever want to peek what’s been In My Kitchen over the past few years… you can find previous post here.

The “In My Kitchen” monthly theme host is Sherry, from sherryspickings.blogspot.ie If you would like to know what’s cooking or see some kitchen treasures, head over to Sherry’s blog and check out all the other IMK participants.

  1. Very clever egg separator! I usually manage with just the egg shell, but that could be a help. Have a great year in the kitchen!

  2. I love your lame! Have fun using it and I am sure the scoring will look perfect. I also really like the look of the egg separators. Every time I try a new one out they fail. Your photo of it also looks nifty 🙂 Have a super 2020 and may it hold all that you need!
