In My Kitchen July 2020

Wonder what the second half of the year has in store for us? Trying not to dwell too much but it is hard to get away from this global pandemic. The kitchen is one place I keep myself busy but sometimes that too can become a little mundane, luckily we have plenty of take-away choices if the need arises.

As much as our family love home-baked goods, these sweet treats tend to linger on the hips longer than I’d like… I do try and balance things, but not always so successfully. The homemade cinnamon rolls were certainly a sweet indulgence and with the extra bonus of a kitchen filled with the aroma of the cinnamon filling.

In My Kitchen…

Doughnut peaches are in season and I included them along with blood oranges in this delicious breakfast bowl. Yoghurt drizzled with a tahini and date syrup and topped with granola and fruit. This breakfast bowl inspiration is from the cookbook “Falastini,” by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley and part of my monthly ingredient challenge over on instagram.

Also, made this flavoursome pasta dish with a creamy herby tahini sauce from “Week Light” by Donna Hay. Lovely alternative to a cream based pasta dish and something different.

Pickled beetroot and home-dried tomatoes are a few staples and I like to make and keep a constant supply going, perfect for salads and sandwiches or if a recipe calls for them.

Short and sweet but I do hope you are all keeping well and in good health. The “In My Kitchen” monthly theme host is Sherry and if you would like to know what’s cooking or see some kitchen treasures then head over to Sherry’s blog  at sherryspickings and check out the other IMK participants.
