High Tea, Just A Salad and Lunch Specials are some delicious new additions to Cafe Amsterdam’s menu. Love the different seating areas throughout the café and the conservatory is perfect for high tea or lunch with friends. Feels very homely… almost like visiting Grandmas house.
High Tea
Cafe Amsterdam’s full high tea (recommended for two) includes homemade plain and fruit scones served with fresh cream and a selection of homemade preserves. The sandwiches are made with freshly baked bread, lightly toasted and with a choice of tasty fillings. The poached chicken with avocado and pesto is a lovely combination and my favorite. Choose from a selection of delicious cakes, tarts and macarons, all beautiful presented on a tiered slate cake stand… just as well the weren’t selling those cake stands, otherwise I might have left with one. Tea or coffee is served with high tea, and a little note for all tea connoisseurs… Cafe Amsterdam only serves Jing teas.
For a celebration or you want to spoil yourself further, choose the Sparkling High Tea and enjoy a glass of sparkling wine. If you’re not up to indulging in their full high tea, you have the choice of ordering the scones, sandwiches and cakes separately.
Lunch Specials
From the Just a Salad Menu, you have the option of composing your own salad with a choice of mixed leaves, vegetables, toppings and dressings from a trolley brought to your table. Or, choose a more substantial salad from their XXL Salads. My favorite was the spinach and gouda cheese salad with quinoa, dates and pine nuts with a balsamic dressing. The king crab iceberg salad with apple, sesame sprouts, pomegranate and orange was light and refreshing.
With light and healthier Lunch Specials, you have a choice between 3 starters, mains and desserts. Enjoyed the red lentil and roasted pepper soup and the nutty texture of the granola garnish. Grilled fish of the day with vegetables is always a good choice and of course ending with a refreshing and light seasonal fruit salad.
The choice is yours at Cafe Amsterdam and some choices will leave you fuller than intended… but all easy on the pocket.
